How do we get our hands around freedom? What is it? Freedom to one person may be entirely different from freedom to another person. But the freedom that the National Association of Rural Landowners defines is that freedom envisioned by our brave American Founding Fathers when they penned the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution. The freedom that was burned into American law from a revolution, that requires the government to preserve, protect and defend our individual rights. Those same individual rights that so many brave men and women have given their lives, limbs and minds to defend. The whole foundation for our debate on freedom and its degradation comes from those founding documents. If we as a country and as a culture do not defend this foundation, we do so at our own peril. If we allow government to take away our freedoms and usurp the power of the people, we shall have been enslaved by our own apathy without a shot being fired and freedom will be lost forever.
